Board members shall make these commitments:

To fellow Board members:

  1. To respect the individual members' positions and opinions.
  2. To provide the atmosphere for a congenial working relationship.
To the Board:
  1. Maintain a high degree of loyalty, responsibility, and confidentiality in all matters of the Board.
  2. To treat with respect the findings, views, and action of other Board members as well as the Central Office staff, and use appropriate channels to express judgment.
  3. When speaking to any group, any references to NAAP will be clearly delineated as to whether it is a personal or an official position of NAAP.
  4. To avoid the substance or appearance of conflict of interest.
  5. To treat as confidential, and for association uses only, any preliminary research, positions, or information generated by NAAP.

To the membership:

  1. Keep open lines of communication for mutual support.
  2. To take every opportunity to educate the membership of their responsibility to the clients/residents served and to the profession.

To the profession:

  1. To assume responsibility to fellow professionals through support, cooperation, and education.
  2. To assume responsibility for maintaining an association focus on the geriatric populations served, while acknowledging other populations with special needs, which are also served, and by recognizing the activity professional's role in relationship to other disciplines in the health care system.
